Another Cannon signs- George Romios!

20151221_125932Coburg are delighted to announce the addition of another Calder Cannon TAC Cup graduate in George Romios.

A former nationally ranked Tennis player, George makes his way into the VFL ranks having only first played Australian Rules football at the age of 15 with EDFL club Essendon Doutta Stars in 2013, where he won a premiership at Under 16 level. With Essendon Doutta Stars being relegated from the EDFL’s premier division at the end of 2014, George switched to local rivals Aberfeldie.

George managed four games in two seasons with the Cannons, two in each season. He spent the majority of the 2015 season with Aberfeldie in the Premier Division under 18 competition, where he was named amongst the coaches best nine times from seventeen matches. He would play an important role in a key defensive post as Abers would go on to win their fourth consecutive premiership in the competition, and as a result George was awarded his sides best finals player.

The signing of George is our eighth from Calder this off season, further strengthening our alignment with the Cannons. Having only played the game for three years, we are delighted to offer George this opportunity to further develop himself in the long term with his football.
And on another note, George completed a week of work experience here in 2013 as part of his year 10 schooling requirements.
