Borough Storms Home Over Senior Lions

Despite the Coburg Seniors’ early defensive pressure which kept Port Melbourne goal-less for majority of the first term, the Boroughs were able to run away with a 64-point win at Piranha Park this afternoon.
Port closed the day with a 8 to 2-goal quarter, capitalising on Coburg’s mistakes and turnovers to finish 8.6 (54) to 18.10 (118).
The Lions’ hard running showed they could match the speed of the Boroughs, but couldn’t stop their blitz.
Hayden Blythe started on fire, kicking the first of the day in under a minute’s play, with Nick Dodge also adding to the scoreboard with three of his own.
23rd player Aidan Tilley also slotted one, with debutante James El Moussalli also kicking his first Senior VFL goal.
El Moussalli went on to record 25 disposals, eight tackles and six clearances, and made a great impact in his first game of Senior football.
Josh Iacobaccio managed to keep Port Melbourne’s Robin Nahas fairly quiet, while Liam Hunt and Nick Mellington both notched up 26 touches.
Next week will see the Lions take on Sandringham at their home ground Trevor Barker Oval, so come down for the first bounce at 2pm to get behind our Senior boys.
Hear the Lions Roar!
