The Coburg Football Club have today received notification from AFL Victoria that the AFL Victoria Development League will not be continuing beyond the 2017 season.
Our club’s preference was that the Development League would continue into season 2018 and beyond, because it is seen as a crucial step in the current player pathway & development model. However, we have fully understood & have accepted AFL Victoria’s final decision.
The club will now work with AFL Victoria & all VFL clubs to determine any potential rule and competition changes or structures for the 2018 season & beyond.
The Coburg Football Club will continue to keep our loyal members, sponsors & supporters informed of future developments. From this point onward from an on-field perspective, we are still focused on closing out the 2017 season as positively as possible, whilst continuing to develop our current group of players and staff.
