Coburg Seniors Record Maiden Win for 2017!

The Coburg Seniors have finally recorded their first win of the 2017 season, keeping Sandringham goal-less in the last term to come out as 25-point victors.
A close game all day which saw the scores level at both half-time and three-quarter time, the Lions gave everything they had left in the tank to finish 13.10 (85) to the Zebras’ 8.15 (63).
With the scores 61 a piece at the start of the final term, Vice-Captain Peter McEvoy opened with a goal, followed by Nick Dodge adding one of his own to push out the lead.
The Lions didn’t stop there however, with Ben Allan booting his first for the day and McEvoy kicking another one to close the game.
Sandringham had their chances, but inaccuracy and potential panic meant just the two behinds.
Dodge ended the day with three majors, while Allan and Liam Hunt recorded 29 disposals each followed by Luke Bunker with 27 touches.
Sean Gregory also played his role in the backline, saving some Sandringham goals with strong marks and spoils.
The game not only saw Josh Iacobaccio kick his first Senior VFL goal after three years on Coburg’s list, but also saw Blake Mullane celebrate his first Senior VFL win in 32 games.
It was also the first Senior VFL win for 11 other Lions.
A hard-earned and deserving victory for the Coburg Seniors, next week will see them take on Geelong at Simonds Stadium at 1pm.
