Hungry Lions Get Their Second Win!

The Coburg Seniors have come from behind and pulled off a miraculous and gutsy win for their second victory of the season, defeating North Ballarat Roosters by two goals at Piranha Park on Saturday afternoon.
In Peter German’s final home game as Head Coach, the Lions roared home with goals from Hisham Kerbatieh, Liam Hunt and Karl Brown to take the lead in the dying minutes, finishing 16.9 (105) to 14.9 (93).
Coburg were on fire in the first term, kicking nine goals to three and putting on a show for the loyal supporters.
Taking a 36-point lead into quarter-time, they were tested in the second term when the Roosters responded with six goals of their own to close the margin to 2 points.
The Seniors knew they needed a big second half, and they definitely brought it.
Three consecutive goals from Blake Mullane, Peter McEvoy and Ryan Exon pushed their lead back to 17 points, and managed to keep North Ballarat to just one goal.
Despite a hard-fought final term which even saw the visitors snatch the lead by nine, the Seniors used every bit of what they had left to get over the line.
Exon and Mullane recorded three goals each, while Luke Bunker, Karl Brown and Hisham Kerbatieh each kicked two.
Major-ball winners included Liam Hunt (31), Nick Mellington (27), and Michael Ercolano and Hisham Kerbatieh (both 25).
In their final game of the 2017 season, the Coburg Seniors will take on Richmond VFL at Punt Road Oval on Sunday.
