Inaccurate Development Lions Still Take The Win

Coburg’s Development Side have come from 8 points down at the final change to overcome Box Hill by 11 points this morning at Piranha Park.
In what started as a close contest, a strong 5-goal to 2 second term gave the Lions an advantage, ultimately finishing 11.17 (83) to the Hawks’ 11.6 (72).
Cassidy Haberfield and Ben Barton opened the scoring with a goal each, followed by two quick goals to Box Hill.
Coburg became dominant throughout the second, but the tables were turned when the Hawks kicked 5 of their own in the third, keeping the Lions goal-less.
However it was the final term where the Lions really turned it on, kicking 3 unanswered goals and levelling the scores 71 a piece.
Some missed opportunities and shots on goal meant the Lions could’ve gone away with a much greater margin, but were happy to get the 4 points under their belt.
Barton went on to kick 3 majors for the day, with eight other individual goal-kickers contributing to the Lions’ final score.
Jesse Corigliano and Karl Brown were prominent down back, notching up 31 and 20 touches respectively, with James el Moussalli (29 disposals) and Michael Ercolano (25 disposals) busy in the midfield.
This win takes the Development boys to three wins and two losses for the season.
In two weeks time we will see Coburg go up against Casey Demons at Piranha Park, with the first bounce scheduled for 11am.
Bring the family down for a day of fun on Sunday June 4, and to get behind our Burgers.
