Daman Aujla becomes a Lion!

20161207_154741Coburg continue to become a destination club for young talent from the Northern Suburbs, signing Daman Aujla from the Northern Blues.

The former Northern Knights 2014 graduate had a breakout season at Preston City Oval where he managed to add ten games, from the three as 23rd man in 2015. Amongst his better performances came against Coburg, managing 23 disposals and seven marks in the seniors round seven clash at Preston, while the Development League clash in round sixteen saw him earn the three A.Todd Medal votes.

Capable of playing off halfback or in the midfield, Aujla would be often in and out of the Blues senior side largely due to the alignment, and like many others in the past arrives at Piranha Park seeking more opportunities for a senior game. He joins the likes of former Knights teammates Michael Ercolano, Josh Iacobaccio, James El Moussalli, and Liam Hunt, and is looking forward to challenging himself at the Lions.

“I made the move to Coburg because I wanted to keep myself improving as a player, and I felt that they are passionate about developing their players.”

“I’ve heard great things about the culture, and I’m looking forward to being a part of that, and being the best player I can possibly be,” said Aujla.

Sebastian Spagnuolo, Coburg List & Recruiting Manager was pleased to add another small defender to the list.

“Daman is another young footballer that is after more opportunity after a couple of seasons in an aligned environment.”

“We see Daman as someone that is capable of playing some senior footy, predominantly in the back half where he should provide some run and carry for the team.”

More signings are to come, to round out the week.
