Lions add former Bomber Sean Gregory

The Coburg Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of former Essendon listed player Sean Gregory.
After being drafted to Essendon with the last live pick in the 2012 National Draft with pick 88, Gregory struggled with injuries in his two years at the Bombers.
In his time at the club, he was considered a raw talent-standing at 196 centimetres and 72 kilos; he had comparisons to the legendary Dustin Fletcher. However, for him and Essendon, development was the priority.
Gregory managed 21 VFL Senior appearances throughout his time at Essendon, including nine in 2014. His best game for the season was against Port Melbourne in round seven.
Gregory’s output with regard to match fitness with Essendon was restricted due to injuries suffered in his two seasons, as well as his recommended restricted workload.
Originally from Rupertswood and the Calder Cannons, Gregory arrives at Coburg to prove his worth that he still has what it takes to play the game.
He will be looking to follow the lead of fellow key position player Michael Hartley. Hartley, who after two injury interrupted years on Collingwood’s Rookie List, had a standout year at Coburg which saw him invited to the AFL Draft Combine.
Gregory’s experience with an AFL side, especially at VFL level will prove quite invaluable to Coburg in 2015. He becomes the 3rd player who has had previous experience on an AFL list that has signed for Coburg since the club returned to stand alone status, and the second after Dean MacDonald to be on an AFL senior list.
Coburg Football Club General Manager Craig Lees was delighted to gain Sean’s services for 2015. ‘Sean is a 196cm key defender, so along with Hartley, Latham, Lehmann and Fairbairn we will have some great depth in our defensive stocks. Sean’s AFL experience will be invaluable for our young group”.
We are delighted to have Sean on board for the 2015 season!
