Local League Lions: Round 20

BY BROOKE VARNEY.

While the Coburg Football Club wrapped up their 2018 season on Saturday afternoon, a small number of Lions continued to represent their local clubs across the weekend.
Starting in the Northern Football League, Daman Aujla and Bundoora faced Greensborough, managing to get the job done with a 17-point win. Aujla managed one goal in the come-from-behind win as the Bulls secured their position in the finals.
Duo Aidan Tilley and Mark Kovacevic also took the four points home with West Preston-Lakeside, beating Whittlesea by 22 points. Both managed one goal each, with Tilley named best-on-ground for his side as the Roosters secured a double chance in the finals.
Moving to the Eastern Football League, Alex Mioni and Norwood suffered a disappointing 11-goal defeat at the hands of Doncaster.
Over in the Southern Football Netball League, Josh Fox and Cheltenham were in the match right up until half-time, before St Pauls kicked 13 goals to 5 in the second half to win 94-47. Despite the loss, Fox kicked five majors and was named among the better players of the day.
To round off the weekend, in the Victorian Amateur Football Association (VAFA), Billy Kanakis and St Kevins dominated in their clash against Old Brighton. Kanakis booted two goals in the 53-point victory, and was named the best-on-ground.
