Following the Lion’s impressive 36 point victory last week against Port Melbourne, there will only be one change for our round 6 clash against Geelong, with experienced big- bodied midfielder Jacob Ballard returning in place of Tyson Old.
In three appearances this season, Ballard is averaging 23 touches and 5 tackles, showing his willingness to compete in the contest and distribute the ball to the likes Marcus Lentini and Charlie Thompson who are averaging 40 and 27 disposals a game respectively.
The round 5 Lion of the Round recipient, Nathan Mullenger -McHugh will be looking to build on his exceptional performance against the Borough, returning to the starting ruck position.
Luke Bunker cements his spot in the Burgers centreline, following an immense performance at the weekend. He finished the game with 36 disposals and a team high 12 tackles
Keeping their spot in this team this week is last week’s debutant, Athan Tsialtas. On his debut he racked up 11 disposals and took 5 marks, adding to the Burger’s tall forward stocks, playing alongside Pete McEvoy and Mitch Podhajski.
The backline remains unchanged, with key defenders Harry Nolan and Jake Maibaum have their sights set on a potential battle with AFL listed forward Josh Jenkins, who kicked 7 goals last week in their win against the Northern Bullants.
A win against the Cats this week will give great confidence for the Lions as they have their sights set on a place in the top 8.
Coburg members and supporters are encouraged to make the trip down to Geelong to support the side. If you can’t make it to the game in person, the game is live on both Foxfooty and Kayo Freebies platforms with the game starting at 7:10pm.
Carn the Lions!
