Double the delight as Said cousins sign on at Coburg

By Julia Montesano

The Coburg Football Club has continued its tradition of being a family club by welcoming in talented cousins Bailee and Regina Said into its inaugural senior women’s team in 2021.

The duo comes from the Sunbury Kangaroos and both boast impressive footy resumes. Regina is coming off a club best-and-fairest award while Bailee won the league best-and-fairest award back in 2018. But both were drawn to Coburg because of the commitment of everyone in the team.

“I love the people, but mostly I love the commitment from the girls,” Regina explained. “ I feel very welcome here.”

“I love the commitment of everyone at the club,” Bailee added. “It makes us all motivated and makes you actually want to come to training. Everyone’s always at training and they’re always supportive. The coaches are really supportive as well.”

While both players boast similar footy resumes and the same surname, they are quite different players.

“I usually play centre half forward and sometimes I play as a key forward as well,” Regina explained.

“I’m usually in the midfield and I like to get in and under and get the ball,” Bailee added. “I love a good tackle.”
