The Coburg Football Club are excited to announce that dual best and fairest winner Lochie Dickson will return to the club for the upcoming 2021 VFL/East Coast Tier 2 competition.
After 36 games in 2018 and 2019 for the Lions, Dickson felt his time at VFL level was over due to increased work commitments and opportunities however for season 2021, Lochie is excited to be heading back to Piranha Park!
Dickson joined Coburg following an outstanding 2017 season with Norwood where he represented the interleague team, he made the transition to VFL level very well, bursting onto the scene in 2018 winning the club’s best and fairest award in a tie with Marcus Lentini. Often playing across half back and at times as the third tall, Dickson would then go onto also spend time in the midfield in 2019.
His outstanding form led to him being nominated for the Fothergill-Round-Mitchell medal in 2018 and receiving an invite to the state draft combine at the end of the 2019 season.
Coburg GM Sebastian Spagnuolo was pleased with the outcome of a dual club champion deciding to return for 2021.
“It’s not everyday that you have a 26 year old, two time VFL club Best and Fairest winner want to come back to VFL level and play at the highest level, but it’s testament to Lochie’s character and to the environment that’s been created within our club that this has occurred. We couldn’t be happier to have Lochie re-join the club.”
Lochie becomes the 29th player signed by Coburg for 2021 and with 10 spots left to fill there’ll be plenty of announcements and competition for the remaining positions on the list.
Over the next few days and weeks, the club will continue to announce both re-singings and more new player signings as it prepares to succeed in 2021.
