Luke Ryan was a regular 19 year old that finished up his time in the then-TAC Cup, he was also a part-time tradie and after missing out at the 2015 AFL Draft, he was destined to play local football in 2016 after being cut from an AFL club’s VFL program in early 2016.
On the eve of the 2016 season, after some convincing, he agreed to come down and have a trial run with our club, he then made our final playing list and after 3 Development League (VFL Reserves) games he made his Senior VFL debut against Box Hill…he was Best on Ground on debut.
At the end of 2016, Luke was drafted by the Fremantle Dockers and now in 2020, after 4 seasons at AFL level he has tonight been named an AFL All-Australian player, selected in the Back Pocket position.
We are super proud of Luke and he has deserved what he’s achieved.
We are also proud that our club played a part in allowing Luke to showcase his talent and attributes which set him off on his way as a professional footballer.
What a star!!
