Fletcher Carroll is the latest player to join Coburg, crossing from fellow stand-alone club Williamstown to sign as a Lion in 2019.
The 20-year old small forward managed just three senior VFL games for the Seagulls in 2018, and played every Development League game the season prior.
Originally from Albury, Carroll can also play in the midfield. He has considerable strength for his size, takes the game on and boasts a solid tackling ability. When not selected for Williamstown in 2018, he managed 13 games for Heidelberg in the Northern Football League Division One competition, and was named in the best six times.
Having joined the club for preseason last month, Carroll is looking forward to a new start.
“I’ve got some good mates here already which obviously helped me come across, and having already met Patch, there’s potentially more opportunity to play senior footy here- I spent the last two seasons with Williamstown where there wasn’t much of an opportunity for me but I’m hopeful of playing a bit more VFL Football this year,” said Carroll.
“I’m looking forward to getting to know the boys a bit better & the season ahead, and hopefully play some good footy.”
General Manager Sebastian Spagnuolo is pleased to have Carroll join the Lions playing list.
“Fletcher’s had a great impact at training and around the club since joining us from Williamstown, and we’re excited to have him on board for 2019,” Spagnuolo said.
“He had a small taste of VFL football with Willy, but we’ll be giving him every opportunity to have a greater impact on the competition with us.”
“Our members can expect to see a clever little player that can play as a small forward or midfielder to provide some run and carry for the side.”
