Jacob Ballard

The Lions set out to begin their off-season recruiting campaign to add much needed experience to the young list, and they couldn't have asked for a better start with Jacob Ballard announced as the clubs first signing. The one-time Fremantle Docker found himself on the outer at times with the Tigers largely thanks to the depth and lack of injuries to the powerhouse Richmond squad, and the Lions outweighed competition from other VFL clubs to land one of the competitions best midfielders. Ballards 2019 season saw him manage 17 games including the Grand Final where he was a late call up, despite not featuring in both previous finals. With over 100 games of state league football, Ballard's experience will be huge for the playing and leadership group, as well as his fellow midfielders.
