The great news just keeps on coming for the Burgers with the recent signing of Nelson Lane.
Lane joins Coburg from the Box Hill Hawks where he played 18 VFL games since making his VFL debut in 2017. When not on VFL duty with the Hawks, Lane was a solid contributor with Norwood in the Eastern Football League.
Prior to joining Box Hill, Lane was an Eastern Ranges player and was also a Victoria Metro Under 18 teammate of current Lions Luke Bunker and Harry Nolan in 2016.
Comfortable as a rebounding defender Nelson becomes the 34th senior listed player to sign with the Lions for the upcoming 2020 season.
Lions General Manager Sebastian Spagnuolo was buoyant upon the news of Nelson putting pen to paper saying –
“The off season has been about bringing in quality people and Nelson definitely fits the bill. Nelson is eager to work hard and be in a position to play more VFL games now that he’s been within a strong VFL program at Box Hill.
Nelson adds VFL experience to our list but also VFL Finals experience as we was chosen to play in two VFL finals for Box Hill in 2018 as Box Hill made their run at the 2018 Premiership.
We are proud that our club has been able to attract another talented, young footballer that is ready to take his chances and play VFL football and with Nelson’s signature our list gets closer to finalisation”
