The Lions weren’t at their best on a sunny afternoon in Werribee and fell to the Tigers by 58 points.
The young Coburg side was completely outworked by the hungry Tigers who were looking to bounce back from their poor showing against the Northern Blues two weeks ago before last week’s bye.
Andrew Sturgess made his return to senior football after sustaining an neck injury in the pre-season whilst Damon Symes made his senior VFL debut as Coburg’s 23rd man.
The Tigers dominated in the air nearly doubling the Lions for marks and used their relentless forward pressure to force the Lions into countless errors coming out of defence.
After being outplayed in the first half, the Lions fought their way back into the contest with a 5 goal to 1 third quarter to bring the margin back to 23 points at the final change, but it wasn’t enough as Werribee piled on the pressure to break the game back to secure the 58-point win.

Ozzie Uysal was back to his best, accumulating 32 disposals (17 contested) and 9 clearances.
Errol McConnell continued his rich form this season applying relentless pressure with 12 tackles and pushing forward with 8 inside 50s.
The Lions will now face Sandringham next Sunday at Trevor Barker Beach Oval.
