The Coburg Lions have made 9 changes to it’s playing list with Jack Murphy, Lucas Cavallaro, Xavier Fry, Will Donaghey, Floyd Bollinghaus, Hedley Smith, Jesse Johnson, Jack Sandric and Nick Reibelt all being delisted.

Wingman Murphy, 24, played 30 games for Coburg since joining the club for the 2018 season from Seymour FC.

Midfielder Jack Sandric, 24, joined the club in 2017 from Box Hill and played 6 senior games for the club. When the 2020 VFL season was cancelled, Jack went back to his home state Tasmania and played for North Hobart who he’s joined permanently for the 2021 season.

Cavallaro, 20, joined the club from the Calder Cannons in 2019 after making the NAB League team of the year as a defender in 2018 but was unable to break into Coburg’s side.

Will Donaghey, 21, joined the club in 2019 from Wodonga and played 5 games for the club.

Floyd Bollinghaus, 21, joined Coburg from the Murray Bushrangers in 2019 and played 3 games in his debut year.

Xavier Fry, 20, joined the club from the Eastern Ranges in 2019 and played 1 game for the club in his debut year.

Hedley Smith, 25, joined the club in 2019 from Fitzroy Stars and played 6 games and kicked 8 goals including 5 goals on debut against the Northern Blues.

Jesse Johnson, 24 and Nick Reibelt, 20, were both signed from Castlemaine and Eltham respectively in the leadup to the 2020 season and due to the season being cancelled were unable to display their abilities for the club.

Coburg Lions GM Sebastian Spagnuolo has thanked all five players for their service to the club.

“On behalf of everyone at the Lions, I would like to thank Jack, Lucas, Xavier, Will, Floyd, Hedley, Jesse, Jack and Nick for their efforts, commitment, and the contribution they have made to our club,” Spagnuolo said.

“These decisions are never easy, but with mandatory list changes being required due to new competition rules and the reduction in our list size we’ve had to make these decisions and we wish each player all the best for the future.”

The club will be making further list change and player re-signing announcements as the 2021 season approaches.
