BY JARRAD GARDNER

The Lions return home looking for their third win of the season in round 18, coming up against Werribee in Jesse Corigliano’s 50th VFL match at Piranha Park.

The longest serving Lion, 2016 development league best & fairest winner and current vice-captain has risen up the ranks at Piranha Park to reach the milestone and we’ll look to honour him with a win against Werribee.

Braedyn Gillard, Lucas Cavallaro, Xavier Fry, Tom Meagher and Brodie Foster all join the extended bench alongside Jack Murphy, Fletcher Carroll and Kane Noonan with Muhammed Saad the only confirmed out from our round 17 clash with Port Melbourne.

Tye Browning has once again been name the 23rdman after 14 disposals and four tackles against Port Melbourne.

Josh Weightman claimed Lion of the Round honours in round 17, with a strong performance to continue his under the radar but impressive 2019 season, gathering 20 disposals and driving us inside 50 eight times throughout the day.

He is joined as expected by Marcus Lentini and Luke Bunker in the middle of the ground, Bunker had 20 disposals and 10 tackles against Port while Lentini racked up 33 touches and kicked a goal.

Adam Swierzbiolek has been named to start in the ruck while Lochie Dickson and Jackson McDonald start on the wings.

Steven Stroobants and Mitch Podhajski booted two goals apiece in the loss to Port, they will be joined by Peter McEvoy, Mark Baker, Jack Sandric and Sam Lowson in the forward 50 against Werribee.

The back six remains unchanged for the fourth straight week, as milestone man Jesse Corgiliano and co-captain Ryan Exon are joined by Tyson Lever, Harry Nolan, Liam Whelan and Josh Guthrie in the defensive 50.

Werribee currently sit sixth on the VFL ladder, with eight wins so far in 2019. In round 17 defeated Frankston by 50-points.

This is the second time we will face Werribee in 2019, going by down by 32-points in our round three encounter.

Strong performers on that day were Sam Lowson (17 disposals, four goals), Marcus Lentin (28 disposals, one goal) and Josh Guthrie (23 disposals)

We hope to see as many Lions fans as possible at Piranha at 12:30pm on Sunday afternoon cheering on the boys, and we hope to see you all stick around for our Reverse Raffle starting at 3:30pm after the game. Details for that event can be found here
