Local League Lions: Round 16

Plenty of Lions continued to push their case for VFL selection with a month left in the 2019 campaign.
 
Essendon District Football League
Strathmore with Lucas Cavallaro and Ben Reddick went head to head with Glenroy who had Jack Sandric and Jonty Neaves at Lebanon Reserve. It was Glenroy who got up by one point in an upset, with Sandric kicking a crucial goal while Neaves was named amongst the best.
Northern Football League
Tyson Old fronted up for Northcote Park in its ten-point win over Lower Plenty at the Bill Lawry Oval.
In a rematch of the 2018 Grand Final, West Preston-Lakeside featuring Aidan Tilley got up by 55 point over MacLeod featuring Jack Baker and Harry Simington at JE Moore Park. Simington kicked one goal for MacLeod.
Braedyn Gillard kicked a goal in Montmorency’s 50-point loss to Heidelberg at Montmorency Park North Oval.
 
Eastern Football League
Tom Meagher‘s Upper Ferntree Gully took on Lilydale in a high stakes clash at Lilydale Sports Oval, unfortunately Gully went down by 25 points.
 
Ovens and Murray Football League
Will Donaghey played in Wodonga Raiders’ 3-point win over Wangaratta Rovers at Biralee Park.
 
AFL Victoria Young Guns
Xavier Fry represented the Metro team in the third game of the AFL Victoria Young Guns game held at Werribee’s Avalon Airport Oval.
