Local League Lions: Round Six

Mark Paxton
It was an exhilarating week for our local lions with several close games!
Things kicked off in the Northern Football League with three of our players lining up for West Preston-Lakeside. Michael Ercolano and Aidan Tilley both held their own in a tough game while Mark Kovacevic contributed one major in a narrow loss to Montmorency.
Sticking with the Northern Football League, James Svarc did all he could for Northcote park in their loss to Macleod; While Jake Page got a fair bit of the ball, being named amongst the best despite Heidelberg’s loss to Hurstbridge
Moving over into the Eastern Football league, Connor Byrne donned Balwyn’s Guernsey in their narrow loss to Blackburn; While Jack Sandric put in a strong performance being named in his sides best despite East Ringwood falling to the hands of Doncaster.
The Essendon District Football League saw another close game between Lachy Mitchell’s Essendon Doutta Stars falling narrowly to West Coburg.
The Ballarat Football League was more kind for our Coburg stars with Mitch Conn playing out of his skin to get Sunbury a narrow win over Melton. Conn was named in his sides best.
Moving on to the Southern Football League, A thrilling game saw Coburg’s own Max Mitchell-Russell playing for the Port Melbourne Colts, taking on Josh Fox’s Cheltenham. Both players kicked two goals apiece, with Cheltenham coming out winners however Mitchell-Russell was named in his sides best.
That’s it this week for our Local League Lions. Stay tuned this Saturday, as we take on Collingwood at 2:10pm at Piranha Park. Make sure you get down for Vicki Cleary Day and support a great cause.
