Local League Lions – Week Four 2021

Plenty of Lions continued to press for senior selection in this weeks edition of Local League Lions.



Ben Overman again played for St. Bernards in their 56-point loss to Old Melburnians at Elsternwick Park.

Ben Jepson also played for Old Carey in their 67-point win over Parkdale at the Gerry Green Reserve, where he continues to perform.


Dinny Cleary was again named amongst Avondale Heights’ best in their upset win over Keilor at Canning Reserve.

Jackson McDonald was prominent for Glenroy, however it wasn’t enough as they fell away against Greenvale in the last quarter, at Greenvale to lose by 57 points. 

Athan Tsialtas was the clear standout at local level over the weekend – kicking eight goals in another huge win for Strathmore, making it the third week in a row the Mores won by triple figures. Tsialtas won best on ground honours, while Ben Reddick was serviceable in the big win at Lebanon Reserve. 

Tye Browning returned from injury to play for Aberfeldie against Maribyrnong Park and was serviceable, however it wasn’t enough as they went down by two points at the Monk Oval.

Northern FL

Bailey Thompson and Jackson Davies starred for Bundoora in its stirring come from behind win over Heidelberg, being named in their best with Thompson kicking a crucial goal in the process. Nathan Howard also continued his improvement in the ruck playing a very handy role in the win at Yulong Reserve. 

Tyson Old came up against his old club Northcote Park and was named in Hurstbridge’s best in a 43-point win at the Ben Frilay Oval.

Sam Binion was named Montmorency’s best player, however it wasn’t enough in their 22 point loss to North Heidelberg as they were overrun in the last quarter at Shelly Park. 

Jhye Baddeley-Kelly appeared for Epping in a 55-point loss at home to Panton Hill.

Ballarat FL

Josh Guthrie again made an appearance for Sunbury as they lost away to East Point by 23 points.
