Plenty of Lions continued to push their claims for a berth with the team.


Ben Overman continued his stellar form at VAFA level, this time spending time as a forward in St. Bernards loss to St.Kevins. With St. Overman managed two goals, however it wasn’t enough as St.Kevins overran them in the final term to win by 33 points. Overman was named in the best once again.

Ben Jepson again continued to impress for Old Carey, named Carey’s best player as they went down to Beaumaris by 26 points at home.



Ben Reddick played for Strathmore in a big 77-point win at Lebanon Reserve. Unfortunately for Reddick he was injured in the first quarter and never returned to the field. Ben will be assessed by Coburg’s medical team during the week.

Dinny Cleary again appeared for Avondale Heights in their 12-point win over Essendon Doutta Stars at Nipper Jordan Oval.

Jackson McDonald and Tye Browning went head-to-head at Glenroy’s Sewell Reserve, however it was Browning’s Abers who recorded a 62-point win over McDonald’s Glenroy. 


Northern FL

Sam Binion continued his strong form, named best on ground for Montmorency in their big win away to Whittlesea. Binion also managed to kick a goal in the 48-point win at the Whittlesea Showgrounds.

Tyson Old for Hurstbridge came up against Bundoora trio Bailey Thompson, Jackson Davies and Nathan Howard and took home the chocolates in an upset 5-point win at Yulong Reserve. All four players played their roles in what was a thrilling finish with 13 goals scored across the two sides in the last term.

Jhye Baddeley-Kelly was named Epping’s best, however they were no match for Eltham who recorded a 52-point win at Epping Recreation Reserve.


Eastern FL

Nelson Lane appeared in a 37-point win for Norwood at Rowville’s Seebeck Reserve. 

Liam Whelan again played for East Ringwood in a huge 138-point win over Lilydale at East Ringwood Reserve.


Ballarat FL

Josh Guthrie played a crucial role for Sunbury in their 24-point win at home to Ballarat being named in their best as the Lions got their season back on track.
