LIONS LOOK TO “THRILL ‘EM” WITH A NEW LOOK

Following a change to the VFL’s on-field apparel supplier this season, the Coburg Football Club will have a new look in 2020 and will return to its traditional navy blue.

ISC has been awarded the VFL’s on-field apparel supplier rights agreement, and are known for their work with many AFL clubs such as Collingwood, Sydney, and West Coast.

Taking into account the club’s history and the feedback from a member’s survey which was completed by over 300 members in October 2019, the change in supplier gave reason for the club to look closely at its on-field guernsey.

After much consultation, the result will see the Lions return to the traditional navy blue home strip, following on from the lighter royal blue home guernsey seen in seasons 2017-19.

2020 will also see a new and exciting white clash guernsey which includes the Lion from the club’s logo.

With the announcement of both the 2020 home and clash strips, Coburg FC General Manager Sebastian Spagnuolo is pleased with the final designs.

“The club has worked with the league’s new on-field apparel supplier ISC to produce two playing kits that we are really proud of and know that our members will love.

“With the club’s home guernsey, when we changed from navy to a lighter blue in 2017 it made total sense in that it avoided a colour clash with some of our opponents, however, the feedback from our members was loud and clear. They wanted to see the club’s traditional navy-blue return, so we’re pleased that we’ve been able to come good on this for our members.

“Designing the new clash strip was also a great initiative, and we’ve moved away from the red guernsey with the blue sash for several reasons. The biggest reason is that we were only required to wear it when we played teams with blue and red in their home guernsey; therefore it no longer made sense that we would wear red and blue as a clash guernsey. The new white guernsey was co-designed in consultation with ISC and the VFL, and we’re thrilled with the outcome,” Spagnuolo said.

In the coming weeks, the club will announce the guernseys as online store items, and we encourage all of our club members to purchase their new Lions guernsey in preparation for the 2020 VFL season.

In terms of recognising the club’s corporate partners, the home guernsey features the club’s major partner Ryman Healthcare’s logo on the front and new club partner Pentridge’s logo on the back.

The white clash strip will place long term partner Piranha’s logo on the front, alongside Ryman Healthcare displayed on the back.

Strathmore Community Bank who are also long-term partners of the club are represented on the back of the home and clash guernsey again in 2020.

The club will be wearing its new 2020 home guernsey this week against Box Hill in their practice match, details of which can be found here: https://www.facebook.com/events/1074372976235894/
