Last time they met:
Round 3, 2018: Coburg Lions 12. 11. (83) defeated by Box Hill Hawks 24. 11. (155) at Piranha Park.
After a lighting start by Coburg booting 7 goals in the first quarter, the 2018 premiers kicked into gear and responded with 8 majors in the next. Ryan Schoenmakers was critical that day to his side’s demolition of Coburg. Kicking 3 goals and taking 5 marks, 3 contested in the forward half.
Form in 2019
Coburg– An opportunity to square the ledger at 2 win and 2 losses has presented itself this week to the Coburg outfit.  Co-Captain Peter McEvoy led the team last week to its first win of 2019 in a 75 point master class against Frankston, while booting 6 goals himself.
Strong first game performances by both Harry Simington and Tom Meagher have earned both individuals a fourth round spot to take on a powerful Box Hill side.
Brodie Foster after keeping Frankston ball magnet Nathan Freeman to just 3 possessions, will look to take another scalp and line up on Box Hill’s identified most prolific midfielder.
Spirits at Coburg this week are high, and with a chance to test their skills up against the reigning premiers of the competition, we are set up for a fierce battle come Saturday afternoon at 1pm.
Box Hill – After a blistering first 2 rounds with winning margins of 62 and 41 points respectively, last week the Hawks were brought back down to earth after being humbled by last year elimination final opponents Port Melbourne.
The benchmark of the competition winning last year’s grand final, the Hawks will look to rebound quickly against a confident Coburg side this Anzac round. The focus is on being especially tough in the midfield after failing to match Port Melbourne’s aggression in round 3.
Harry Morrison, David Mirra and Conor Nash were all omitted from the senior side following last week’s Easter Monday clash against Geelong will all line up against Coburg this week unless a late call up from the senior side arises.
After a disappointing week Box Hill’s stars will look to fire again. Both Andrew Moore and Will Golds will have a point to prove to coach Chris Newman after a poor performance in last week’s loss.

Players to watch

Coburg –

#12 Peter McEvoy

Booting 6 goals and claiming 22 disposals, Coburg Co-Captain will look to continue his form against a strong Box Hill defensive 50 this week. Leading the competitions goal kicking with 10 majors for the season Coburg will need their big forward to continue his form if they wish to secure a win.

#2 Jesse Corigliano

Deservedly named across the Half-Back flank in the VFL’s team of the week is Coburg’s Jesse Corigliano. Starting the season in blistering form, Jesse’s rebound 50 game will be crucial against Box Hill forwards and his sides chances of winning this Saturday.

Box Hill –

#29 Changkuoth Jiath

Coming off strong games in the first 2 rounds of the season leading Hawthorn’s defensive unit and impressing coaches within the club. Jiath has been in the best players 2 out of the 3 times this season and will look to continue his form against Coburg’s dangerous small forwards in Sam Lowson and Harry Simington.

#25 Ryan Schoenmakers

Booting 3 goals last time these two teams met and taking 5 marks, Schoenmakers will look to get his side back on track with a win this week against Coburg. A premiership player with the hawks Ryan will be a handful for the defensive unit of Coburg this week.
