Mitchener makes her mark at Coburg

The Lions have boosted their defensive stocks for their inaugural senior women’s side in 2021, with the signing of former WNBL player, Amy Mitchener.

Mitchener arrives at Coburg as a dual full-back in the NFNL Team of the Year and a reigning best-and-fairest winner at St Mary’s Football Club in Greensborough. But what’s most impressive is that she has won these accolades in just her first two seasons of playing Football, suggesting there’s plenty of potential for Mitchener to make her mark at her new club.

What she loves most about the club so far is the family environment, which is an important factor to her as a Mum of two young children.

“All of the girls are really welcome and committed, so it makes you want to come to training,” Michener said.

As far as her playing style goes, Mitchener describes herself as someone who “loves a good tackle” and “can clear the 50 (metre arc) from the goal square”. Coburg is undoubtedly excited about what she will bring to the club’s defence in 2021.

Just like Amy Mitchener, you can commit to the Lions for 2021 by purchasing one of our 2021 memberships which are on sale now! Make sure you keep up to date with all the news from the Lions new women’s side by following our new page on Instagram @coburgfcw.
