Port Melbourne Kick Away In Final Term

The Development Lions went down to ladder-leaders Port Melbourne on Saturday morning by 62 points, after a hard fought opening term which saw Nick Dodge kick the first for the match.
The Borough had the lead at every break at Fortburn Stadium, and kicked a seven to three-goal second half on home turf; finishing 17.20 (122) to Coburg’s 8.12 (60).
In the first half, Coburg used quick hands to get the ball inside-50, and continued to apply strong pressure throughout the match, leading the tackle count (40 to 39) and spoils (15 to 10).
With the margin just 33 points at half-time, the Development Lions needed to lift for the last hour of play.
But despite matching Port’s goals in the third, the Borough kicked away in the final term to push their lead out even more.
Nick Dodge went on to kick three for the Burgers, with the other five majors coming from individual goal-kickers.
Daman Aujla managed to record 27 disposals and seven clearances, Angelo Rambaldi notched up 24 touches and four rebound-50s, and Matt Merlo finished on 21 disposals and a goal.
Next week will see Coburg’s Development Side take on Sandringham at Piranha Park for their final home game of the season.
Be there from 11am to get behind the Lions and Hear them Roar!
