Promising young key tall signs from the Bushies.

Lachlan Waite is the latest youngster to join the Lions for 2017.

Waite only managed a handful of appearances for the Murray Bushrangers in 2016, having been injured midway through the season and being unable to regain his spot in a strong Bushrangers squad, who finished up as TAC Cup runners up. However, he still managed to play some good Senior Football with Seymour managing ten senior games including its only match in its finals campaign.

Waite also captained the Goulburn Valley Football Leagues Under 18 Interleague squad, and is a 191cm key position player capable of playing at either end of the ground, and is a good set shot for goal. He came recommended to the club by former club stalwart and vice-captain Ben Clifton, having played alongside each other in 2016. New Midfield Line Coach Andrew Sturgess was also a teammate of Waite’s in 2016.

The younger brother of Brisbane Lions young gun Josh Schache, Waite is looking forward to beginning his VFL journey.

“I guess it’s the challenge that comes with it, it’s a really young group, I’m just really excited to play good football and this is the place to be,” said Waite.

List & Recruiting Manager Sebastian Spagnuolo was pleased to have added another TAC Cup graduate from regional Victoria.

“Lachy got into our program only in December but since then has shown a willingness to learn as much as possible and has definitely impressed us with his attitude.”

“The fact that Lachy spent 2016 playing 50% TAC Cup and 50% Senior GVFL Football should hold him in great stead, as he transitions into the cut and thrust of the VFL,” Spagnuolo said.

With the list to be finalized soon, we will keep posted more of our announcements.
