Seagulls Too Strong for Senior Lions

Despite holding the lead at quarter-time, the Coburg Seniors were defeated by Williamstown by 65 points on Sunday afternoon at Piranha Park.
Looking like they were ready to take it up to the second-placed Seagulls, a three-to-nine goal second half proved the most damaging; the final scores 8.6 (54) to 16.23 (119).
Going into the first break with a two-goal lead, the Lions ran hard, tackled strong and intercepted the ball effectively.
But a haul of goals from the visiting side turned the game around, snatching the lead and maintaining it.
The Coburg midfield led by Liam Hunt (28 disposals) tried their best to get the ball across the ground quickly, but came a bit undone when trying to enter their forward-50.
The Seagulls continued to kick away in the third, and just proved too strong for the young Lions’ side in the end.
Pat Lawlor (22), Keenan Posar (21) and Ben Allan (20) were also involved in much of the game, with Hisham Kerbatieh and Sam Lowson the only dual Coburg goal-kickers.
Next week Coburg will go up against Port Melbourne at North Port Oval in what should be a challenging contest.
Come down at 2pm on Sunday to show your support and get behind the Burgers in their last few games for the 2017 season.
Hear the Lions Roar!
