THE BIG SWIZZ COMMITS!!!

By Mathew Asciak

The Coburg Football Club is excited to announce that big man Adam Swierzbiolek has joined many Lions teammates and committed to the Burgers for the 2022 VFL season.

Swierzbiolek, 27, will be eager to re-establish his presence within the Coburg midfield group and will look to make the no.1 ruck spot his own.  Speaking about his main goal for the 2022 season, he stated, “(My) goal is dominate the number one ruck role and give our midfielders first use.”

After sustaining an ACL injury against Frankston in round 1 this season, Swierzbiolek has made great progress on his road to recovery.

“Rehab is going well,” he said. “I will be 100% for preseason and ready to go for round 1,” Swierzbiolek said.

Speaking about his reasons for going around again for the Burgers, Swierzbiolek spoke to the culture and belief that has grown amongst the playing group, as well as knowing what it would mean to bring success to our loyal supporters.

“I love the club and the people,” he said. “I want success for our supporters, and I believe we have the team to do it,” Swierzbiolek explained.

Senior coach Andrew Sturgess commented on Swierzbiolek’s willingness to ensure he could become a great VFL ruckman.

“Swiz has worked really hard on his body to ensure he is a VFL standard ruckman and has worked on his ability to run out games.  To scrape two minutes off his 2km time trial shows the endeavour to improve,” Sturgess explained.
