VAFA Young Gun Di Lizio becomes a Lion

Coburg are delighted to announce the signing of Luke Di Lizio from St.Bernards.
Di Lizio spent the 2018 season with Richmond’s VFL side on their Development List, but would play all his football with St.Bernards in the VAFA’s Premier B Competition, including their big Premiership victory over Old Carey.
Having played all his Junior Football with St.Bernard’s where he represented the Western Region Football League’s in its Junior Interleague program, Di Lizio made his Senior VAFA debut in the opening round of 2017 and made an instant impact, playing 18 games & being named in the best on six occasions. His performances that year saw him earn selection to represent the VAFA in its International Rules tour of Ireland where he played alongside fellow recruit Liam Whelan, where he impressed.
2018 saw Di Lizio manage 18 games for 18 goals and was named in the best three times. He would also represent the VAFA at Under 19 level. A utility who can play at either end or in the middle, Di Lizio has an outstanding aerial ability. After starting the preseason with Essendon VFL, Di Lizio decided to join close mates Jackson McDonald & Mitch Podhajski at Piranha Park.
GM Sebastian Spagnuolo was pleased to have Di Lizio awarded a contract for 2019.
“Luke joined us just before Christmas after doing some preseason training with Essendon VFL and since then he’s kept getting better out on the track. He’s worked well with our coaches and looks set to add to our defensive stocks. He joins us as another player to experience a Senior Premiership at local level with St Bernards in the VAFA in 2018,” Spagnuolo said.
“Please join us in welcoming Luke and the Di Lizio family to the club for the 2019 season.”
