After a season alternating between the TAC Cup and the Essendon District Football League, Cameron Holdsworth lands himself with Coburg for 2015.
Hailing from Melbourne’s Western Suburbs, Holdsworth played his junior Football with Western Region Football League sides Glen Ordern and Albion, where he was a standout. He made his senior debut for Albion as a sixteen year old in 2013 and finished off the season in the senior side and was named amongst the coach’s best on four occasions.
An outside midfielder that is well suited to roles on the flanks at either end or a wing, Holdsworth managed eleven games for nine goals with the Western Jets in 2014, his best game coming in the final round against the Gippsland Power. He managed two senior appearances in a star studded Avondale Heights side, and was named amongst the coaches best five times in as many appearances in the under 18 premier division competition.
Holdsworth had previously trained with the club in the pre-season prior to the 2014 season. Despite impressing, due to age he was knocked back. He also was a member of the elite Essendon Keilor College’s Football Program, representing the school team. A solid outside runner with the ball, Holdsworth will be striving to reach his full potential at Piranha Park in 2015.
