The Coburg Football Club can officially confirm the signing of Damon Symes from the Yarrawonga Football Club in the Ovens & Murray Football League.
Symes, who turned 20 in January, is a 196cm Forward/Ruck who played senior football for Yarrawonga last year following time at Caulfield Grammar in which he attended high school in years 11 and 12.
In 2013, he won the Ovens & Murray League’s Under 18 best and fairest, and in 2014 was a Vic Country Under 19 representative and was an emergency in the 2014 Senior Grand Final for Yarrawonga.
He impressed recruiters in 2014 and was invited down to Essendon VFL for pre-season training, before the Lions came knocking to bolster their ruck and key forward division, following his performances against us in our practice matches.
“Coburg just seemed like the best opportunity for me to further my career”
He is the brother of Brandon Symes, who was a 2013 Development League premiership player with Williamstown.
