Another New South Welshman makes his way to Piranha Park!

20151214_162537Coburg are delighted to announce its first signing from the Murray Bushrangers as well as its second from New South Wales this off season, in Dylan McDonald.

Having played his junior football in country Victoria with Euroa and New South Wales with Albury, Dylan managed to make his TAC Cup debut with the Murray Bushrangers in 2013 as a sixteen year old. Dylan’s 2015 season saw him named in the Bushrangers best four times from 13 matches, after a 2014 season where he managed to be named three times amongst the coaches best in 14 games.

Overall Dylan managed 30 games in three seasons as a TAC Cup player. A hard running midfielder with an outstanding running ability and endurance level, he was also a member of the NSW/ACT side that played in the NAB AFL under 18 Championships. As a member of both the AIS-AFL and GWS Giants Academies, Dylan gained crucial exposure against opposition at VFL and NEAFL level. He represented the AIS Academy in matches against Werribee and the Northern Blues prior to the beginning of the VFL season, and also topped up for the UWS Giants in three games.

Having won the 3km time trial in the AIS academies high performance camp in Florida earlier in 2015 after leading from start to finish, Coburg list manager Sebastian Spagnuolo was very happy to gain Dylan’s services for the 2016 season. “We’re very happy to have Dylan join our football club from the Murray Bushrangers.  Dylan is another young player from the TAC Cup that brings leadership qualities, is an elite runner and has outstanding character.”

Having also represented the NSW/ACT in this year’s draft combine, as well as having spent time with GWS throughout the 2015 preseason, we are very pleased to have attained Dylan’s services for the 2016 season, and we believe his prior knowledge and experience of being involved in professional environments will hold him in good stead at Piranha Park.
