Another twelve re-sign for 2016!

Coburg Re-sign 12

Ahead of the Christmas break of the pre-season, Coburg are pleased to announce that another twelve players have committed for the 2016 season – Lech Featherstone, Dion Hill, Mark Orr, Lachlan Johns, Rory Lehmann, Tom Goodwin, Josh Cauchi, Richard Bamblett, Jackson Clarke, Brandon Bailey, Cameron Holdsworth and Jesse Corigliano have all signed to go round again in 2016.

After his superb debut season in 2014 where he was named at centre half forward in the VFL team of the year and came within lengths of winning the Frosty Miller Medal, Lech’s 2015 season was hampered by injury following a limited pre-season. While his 2015 got off to a promising start, we are looking forward to see what he can do when fit in 2016.

Dion impressed in his debut season in 2014, after a stint in the development league he managed 16 goals in the last six matches to finish with 22 goals for the season.

Mark managed 13 out of the Lions 18 senior matches in 2015, a fantastic result for the former Western Jets leadership group member. A promising key position player who can also play in the ruck, Mark also managed five goals, which included a four goal effort in the big win over reigning premiers Footscray in round fifteen.

Recruited from Eastern Football League powerhouse Vermont, Lachlan managed 13 goals in seven matches from the midfield after struggling with a persistent ankle injury early on in the season. Lachlan was eligible for the finals in the development league and was awarded as the clubs best finals player, and played in the AFL Victoria Young Guns game.

Also recruited from Vermont, Rory managed twelve senior games in 2015 holding a key defensive post for the majority of the season. With Michael Hartley being drafted to Essendon, Rory will again be crucial to the side’s backline in 2016.

After stints with the Port Adelaide Magpies and the Box Hill Hawks, Tom was a crucial component in the ruck for the Lions throughout 2015. Tom managed 16 senior games in his first full season of senior football which also consisted of 398 hit outs for the season, including 49 against Frankston late in the season.

From the Calder Cannons, Josh managed 17 goals from 14 matches in his first season at VFL level as a small forward. His form was impressive early on, especially in the sides early season wins over Richmond and Frankston. Josh will be looking to make further strides in 2016.

After two years in the wilderness, Richie returned to Coburg following a stint with Essendon’s VFL side. A premiership player with the development side in 2012, Richie managed the opening two senior games in 2015. However he battled injuries and struggled to win his spot back in the senior side and spent the rest of the season in the development league.

A product of Wangaratta and the Murray Bushrangers, Jackson managed to make his senior debut late in the season as 23rd man having struggled earlier in the season with injury. Having tasted senior football in 2015, the talented midfielder will be looking to further build on his 2015 experiences.

After starring for Gippsland League side Morwell in 2014, Brandon managed 14 games in the development side in 2015 often in the midfield or on the wing.

Recruited from the Western Jets, Cameron managed fifteen games in the development side during 2015, and was equally adept in
all positions either down back or up forward, and even as a pinch hitter in the ruck.

Also from the Calder Cannons, Jesse managed 9 development matches in 2015, mainly off half back with his best performance being in the Queen’s Birthday match against the Northern Blues.

We are pleased to have these twelve players at Piranha Park again in 2016.
