Robbie Fox off to the State Combine!
A week after Luke Ryan became the only VFL player to be invited to this year’s National combine in October, we’re also delighted to confirm that Robbie Fox has been invited to this year’s State Combine which will also be held in October!
A former basketballer, Fox was originally a Tasmanian who plied his trade with TSL club Burnie Dockers from the age of 17, the same club where Senior Coach Peter German began his coaching career. He managed 46 games for the Tassie North-West Coast club and also represented the Tassie Mariners at TAC Cup and Under 18 State Championship level. He then moved to Melbourne where he joined EDFL powerhouse Aberfeldie- and after a standout 2014 campaign, he decided to progress further and give VFL a crack at Piranha Park.
Although Fox had an injury riddled start to 2015, before and after his senior VFL debut against Box Hill in round 2, he managed 13 games overall which resulted in a 4th place finish in the best and fairest. Playing a midfield role this year compared to last year where he predominantly ran off halfback, Fox in his 12 games so far has averaged 22.4 possessions, putting him amongst Coburg’s more consistent performers.
We wish Robbie all the best in the remainder of the 2016 season, and with his draft aspirations.
Coburg would also like to congratulate the five players from its Aligned side, the Calder Cannons, however most notably Ben Ronke. The St.Bernards junior arrived at Highgate Reserve for 2016 after playing a starring role in the clubs VAFA Premier Division Premiership side- and was the youngest member of the side. He has been amongst Calder’s better performers this season. We would also like to wish him and his four other teammates all the best in their draft endeavours.
