Coburg’s Development Side have recorded their first win for the season overcoming Northern Blues by 13 points this morning at Piranha Park.
In what was initially a slow start to the day, the Lions managed to kick away in the second half, finishing the day 13.16 (94) to 10.21 (81).
With the Blues kicking the only goal for the quarter, Coburg came out firing in the second to kick four consecutive goals and go into half time with a 7-point advantage.
Although the third term saw the Lions dominate, they only managed to have an 11-point lead at ¾ time.
A five-goal to four final quarter to Coburg demonstrated their strength and fight to the final siren.
The Development Lions gelled well as a team, and defended with immense pressure when the ball entered their defensive-50, allowing them to sing the song for the first time in 2017.
Michael Ercolano was outstanding in the centre, managing 33 disposals, 2 goals and 9 clearances, with James El Moussalli stepping up in the second-half to finish the day on 30 touches and 8 clearances.
Zak Wunhym and Luke Bunker were also both equally as strong, finishing the day with 29 disposals each.
Playing their first game on home turf, the Development Lions will next week travel to Burbank Oval to take on Williamstown on Sunday morning.
