Lion of Round 16: Keenan Posar

For the second time this year, Keenan Posar has been named the Post Office Hotel’s Lion of the Round after his 21 disposal performance in Sunday’s match against Williamstown.
Posar felt that he played his role for the team well on the weekend, and was content with how he played.
“It’s been a focus of mine to have my disposal efficiency high this year, and on Sunday I was able to hit most of my targets,” he said.
Since his earlier Lion of the Round nomination in round 6 against Essendon, the 23-year old has averaged 20 touches, four marks and three tackles per game; including two goals in round 15.
The Senior Lions managed to take it up to the second placers in the first quarter, but unfortunately couldn’t keep up with the added pressure, conceding 65 points in the end.
And Posar believes until Coburg can put in complete four-quarter performances every week, it’s going to be difficult to win games.
“The difference was just their (Williamstown’s) ability to play with consistent effort and energy for the whole four quarters,” Posar said.
“Unfortunately for us it was a bit of the same story, as we keep playing well and matching sides for two or three quarters, but then drop off for one,” he continued.
“Great sides like Williamstown know how to punish teams when they sense lapses.”
Next week, Coburg goes up against Port Melbourne, and Posar hopes to simply play his role for the team again.
“(The next game) is definitely winnable if we are able to play a consistent four-quarter game, and have every player buying into the pressure we know we can put teams under,” he said.
In the Development League, Chas Roberts was named by Head Coach Paul Kennedy as best on ground for his impact in Sunday’s match, which included 35 hitouts.
Be at North Port Oval, Port Melbourne from 11am to see the Development League game, followed by the Seniors at 2pm.
