Coburg are delighted to announce further additions to its playing list for 2018, with former Calder Cannon Brad Bernacki, Eastern Ranges Harry Nolan, & Northern Knight Marcus Lentini all signing for the 2018 season.
Coburg GM Sebastian Spagnuolo is thrilled to have secured the services of all three TAC Cup graduates.
“We’re excited to work with all three very talented youngsters, and they are all super keen for the opportunity to play VFL Football with our club.”
Bernacki was a shining light in a dim year for the Cannons, and will be looking to give himself the best opportunity possible to play VFL Football on a regular basis. As the Calder Cannons captain of 2017, Bernacki was named his sides Robert Hyde Medallist as the Best & Fairest winner, while he managed a runner-up finish in the Morrish Medal.
“I decided to play football at Coburg in 2018 because of the group of boys that I’m going to be playing with, and to get a good opportunity playing in the VFL system. I’m looking forward to taking the next step higher in footy,” said Bernacki.
“The club is very excited to have Brad join our Football Club in 2018. For a young person, he will bring great leadership qualities, and ability. Brad joins Aidan Tilley as the second former Calder Cannon to join us in 2018,” said Spagnuolo.
Eastern Ranges Key Defender Harry Nolan has also joined the club. The highly rated Nolan managed to receive an invite to the State Combine in 2017, & also was part of the Vic Metro squad for the Under 18 Championships. Nolan was named in the Eastern Ranges best ten times and boasts outstanding endurance for his size.
“What made me decide to play at Coburg, was that I thought it would be the best place for me to develop as a player, as well as playing the highest standard of footy possible. I knew after the first few weeks of the preseason, that Leigh & all the players were heading in a good direction and keen to have a successful year. What I’m looking forward to is the challenge of playing on some of the best players in the state, and potentially some AFL listed players,” said Nolan.
“Harry is regarded highly by many AFL Scouts, and was considered unlucky not to be drafted. At 195cm, we feel he can play an important role as a key defender for our club in 2018 and beyond,”Spagnuolo also added.
Another Northern Knight joins the Lions, with Marcus Lentini the latest TAC Cup graduate to join the club. The Diamond Creek Junior was named amongst the coaches best six times in 2017, and was one of the better players in its finals loss. He also managed one Development League appearance with the Northern Blues, however he can’t wait to play for Coburg in 2018.
“I happy to be a part of such a great club like Coburg, it has a great History, and hopefully we can write our own in 2018,” said Lentini.
“Marcus joins Coburg fresh from an outstanding TAC Cup season as a ball winning midfielder for the Northern Knights, ” said Spagnuolo.
