It was a big week for Local League Lions coming off the week-long break.
Beginning in Essendon District Football League, Lachy Mitchell and Tom Wallis helped Essendon Doutta Stars to a 43 point first quarter lead, but were unable to hold on as the Stars went down to powerhouse Greenvale by four points. Tom Wallis was named amongst the stars’ best players.
Tom Condon worked hard, helping his Strathmore side to a 14 point win over reigning Premiers Aberfeldie; While Jackson McDonald and Jay O’Donoghue did all they could kicking one goal each in Glenroy’s 50 point loss to ladder leader Maribyrnong Park. McDonald was also named among Glenroy’s best.
Sticking with the EDFL, Brad Bernacki was able to produce one goal despite East Sunbury’s 66 point loss to Roxburgh Park.
Moving on to the Northern Football League, Aidan Tilley suited up for West Preston Lakeside who were up all game including having a lead of 18 points at three quarter time, but were unable to hold on as they went down to the hands of Heidelberg by 23 points. Tilley managed one goal in the loss.
Playing for East Ringwood, Adam Swierzbiolek and Jack Sandric worked hard all day despite the 45 point loss to Vermont. Swierzbiolek managed to kick two of his sides six goals.
The Southern Football Netball League saw a thriller with a close game through the entirety of the match, Josh Fox and Cheltenham ended up with the loss, going down by 15 points to St Pauls; Fox managed two vital goals for his side.
Mark Orr was able to kick one goal for Melton in his sides 27 point loss to Lake Wendouree in the Ballarat Football League.
