As the VFL season nears a close, a number of Lions continue to represent well in their local league matches, as seen this past weekend.
Starting in the Northern Football League, Aidan Tilley and Mark Kovacevic paired up for West Preston-Lakeside, while Daman Aujla featured for Bundoora, with both sides looking to cement a finals position.
It was a happy result for both sides, as the Roosters managed to overcome Montmorency by 22 points, where Kovacevic was named the second best-on-ground, and the Bulls defeated Hurstbridge by ten goals; Aujla booted two and was named one of the better players on the day.
Moving to the Eastern Football League, reigning premiers South Croydon were too strong for Jack Sandric and East Ringwood, who went down by 69 points. Despite the loss, Sandric was recognised for his efforts and named among the best. Across town, Alex Mioni played his role for Norwood in their seven-goal win over Montrose.
In the Southern Football and Netball League, Josh Fox and Cheltenham kept their finals hopes alive by beating Mordialloc by 21 points, where Fox went on to kick three goals.
In the Essendon District Football League, duo Jay O’Donoghue and Tyson Lever put on the Glenroy guernseys, but suffered a big loss to Aberfeldie; 35-117.
Finally, the Riddell District Football League saw Billy Cannolo and ladder-leaders Rupertswood defeat Melton Centrals by 12 goals; Cannolo slotted three.
This Saturday will see Coburg Lions go up against the Geelong Cats for their last game of the 2018 season.
Show your support by coming down to Piranha Park from 12pm to see all of the action unfold, as the Lions hope to finish their year on a positive note.
