Piranha Park continues to become a destination for young Northern Suburbs Talent, with 2018 Northern Knights Captain Braedyn Gillard signing a two-year deal to play for Coburg in 2019 & 2020.
Gillard joins the likes of Marcus Lentini, Luke Bunker, Matt Harman, & Alex Federico as former Knights at the Lions in 2019. A Montmorency Junior, Gillard would miss most of the 2018 TAC Cup season due to injury however would still manage a second placed finish in the Best & Fairest, averaging 21.8 Disposals, 10.6 contested possessions, 4 tackles and 4.5 clearances.
Gillard boasts an outstanding running ability and has great qualities of character & leadership, and is highly spoken about in many circles & can’t wait to get started at Piranha Park.
“I knew a few mates who were playing down here, so I decided to come down and have a run, thought there was good opportunities here especially with a young side so I came down and I’ve enjoyed it down here so far, so I’ve decided to give it a shot for the next few years.”
“I’m looking forward to playing against the best standard of footballers that I can in the VFL & playing at the highest level possible against a quality standard each week,” said Gillard.
GM Sebastian Spagnuolo was thrilled to have secured the signature of the Knights captain, who was in high demand from numerous VFL clubs.
“We’ve really valued Braedyn from a long way out, and when we first spoke to him and his family we knew that he’d be a perfect fit for our football club. Braedyn is very aspirational and has significant leadership traits,” Spagnuolo said.
“We welcome Braedyn and his family to our football club and we look forward to continuing to provide the coaching and guidance to make him a great contributor as both a player and a person for Coburg.”
