Local League Lions: Round Seven
Round Seven of Local League Lions was a quiet one due to the interleague weekend. However, there were a few Lions that put themselves forward to be considered for senior selection against Geelong this Saturday.
Interleague: Ballarat FL V Hampden FL
Lachlan Watkins was rewarded for his consistency with Melton South over the past twelve months with a call up for the Ballarat Football League in its clash with the Hampden Football League at Ballarat’s Mars Stadium. Although the Hampden league had a big 74-point win, Watkins was one of Ballarat’s few players that could hold their heads up high, being named amongst their better players.
VAFA Premier
Luke Di Lizio again made an appearance for St.Bernards as they fell to a third consecutive defeat, losing to Collegians by 58 points.
Liam Whelan again appeared for Old Trinity, as they came from behind to snatch a thrilling draw against Old Brighton at Brighton Beach.
Essendon District Football League
Lucas Cavallaro and Ben Reddick again made solid contributions for Strathmore in its 41-point win over Avondale Heights at Canning Reserve.
Eastern Football League
Xavier Fry fronted up for North Ringwood in its 134-point loss to Blackburn at Moreton Park.
In Division One, Tom Meagher was named Best on Ground for Upper Ferntree Gully as they fell agonizingly short of victory against a star-studded Doncaster East, losing by 3 points at Zerbes Reserve.
We look forward to having your support this weekend as we take on Geelong at GMHBA Stadium.
