Local League Lions: Round 8

Local League Lions Round Eight
The weekend saw a few Lions continue to press their claims for VFL selection ahead of Sunday’s encounter with Sandringham.
VAFA Premier Division
Luke Di Lizio again fronted up for St.Bernards in its loss 65-point loss to reigning Premiers St.Kevins at TH King Oval.
Liam Whelan continued to make strides in his return from injury, and was named amongst Old Trinity’s best players in their loss to Collegians at Daley Oval.
EDFL
At Maribyrnong Parks Monk Oval, Lucas Cavallaro and Ben Reddick again fronted up for Strathmore in its come from behind win over Maribyrnong Park.
Over at Sewell Reserve, Jonty Neaves made his first appearance for Glenroy in its draw with Pascoe Vale. Neaves was named in the Roy’s best players, also managing one goal. Jackson McDonald, Jay O’Donoghue and Jack Sandric also appeared for the Roys, with McDonald also kicking a goal.
Northern FL
Mark Baker 
and Mo Saad both contributed to another win for MacLeod, as they defeated Lower Plenty by 24 points at DeWinton Reserve. Baker was named in the best while Saad managed a goal.
Matthew Harman managed a goal for West Preston-Lakeside, who remain winless having gone down to Heidelberg by 23-points at Warringal Park.
In Division 2, Hedley Smith again appeared for Fitzroy Stars in its 31-point win over Whittlesea at Sir Doug Nicholls Oval.
Eastern FL
Tom Meagher again was named in Upper Ferntree Gully’s best, as they went down narrowly to Croydon at Kings Park.
Ovens and Murray FL
Floyd Bollinghaus played in Wodonga Raiders’ 105-point win over North Albury at Biralee Park.
