Local League Lions: Round Eleven
Following the Queens Birthday long weekend, many Lions continued to press their claims for Senior VFL Football ahead of round 12.
VAFA Premier Division
Luke Di Lizio kicked a goal for St.Bernards however it wasn’t enough as they fell to ladder leaders Old Xavierians by 49 points at Toorak Park.
Essendon District Football League
Jonty Neaves, Jack Sandric and Jay O’Donoghue all lined up for Glenroy as they took on Maribrynong Park at Sewell Reserve. Neaves was named his sides best player, however it wasn’t enough with Marby getting up by 2 goals.
Lucas Cavallaro was awarded best on ground honours as Strathmore scored an upset win away to Greenvale, by nine points.
In division one, new mid-year signing,and former Calder Cannon Tye Browning played for Cragieburn in a 65-point win over Hillside at DS Aitken Reserve.
Eastern Football League
Xavier Fry fronted up for North Ringwood’s reserves in a big loss to Vermont.
Tom Meagher was named best on ground for Upper Ferntree Gully, as they won a crucial encounter away to Knox.
 
Northern Football League
Tyson Old was named amongst Northcote Parks best, however the Cougars fell to ladder leaders Greensborough by 84 points at the Bill Lawry Oval.
Aidan Tilley, Matt Harman and Alex Federico again all fronted up for West Preston-Lakeside as they notched up a 26-point win over Montmorency at JE Moore Park.Tilley managed 2 goals while Federico continued his consistency being named in the best again, also managing a goal in the process.
Fletcher Carroll continued his good form for Heidelberg being named in their best, but it wasn’t enough as they suffered an upset loss to Lower Plenty at Montmorency Park South Oval.
Brodie Foster, Jack Baker and Mo Saad all had the bye, with MacLeod playing on last weeks long weekend.
 
Ovens and Murray FL
Will Donaghey returned to Wodonga Raiders with a goal in its clash with Yarrawonga, but it was the Pigeons who got up at JC Lowe Oval.
