Local League Lions: Round Eighteen
Our Lions at Local level continued to put their best foot forward in the seasons run home.
VAFA Premier Division
Luke Di Lizio kicked a goal for St. Bernard’s as they narrowly went down at home to ladder leaders Old Xaverians by a point, almost certainly ending their finals chances. In their first season back up in the Premier A division it’s still a positive season for the club.
Essendon District Football League
Jonty Neaves was named amongst Glenroy’s best however; the Roys went down to Greenvale by 115 points at Sewell Reserve.
Ben Reddick and Lucas Cavallaro appeared for Strathmore in its big 68-point win over Avondale Heights, as they remain in finals contention.
Northern Football League
Brodie Foster, Harry Simington, Jack Baker and Mo Saad all appeared in MacLeod’s 10-point win over Hurstbridge at DeWinton Reserve. Baker was named amongst the best, while Saad kicked 2 goals to be MacLeod’s only multiple goalkicker. Foster also hit the scoreboard with a goal.
Braedyn Gillard kicked a goal as Montmorency had a 32-point win over an in-form West Preston Lakeside at home.
Tyson Old continued his good form for Northcote Park kicking a goal and being named amongst their best, however it wasn’t good enough as they fell to North Heidelberg by 47-points at Shelly Park.
Hedley Smith continued his good form for the Fitzroy Stars, being named in the best and kicking a goal in the process however it wasn’t good enough as they went down to a star-studded Banyule by 7 points.
Ovens and Murray Football League
Will Donaghey again appeared for Wodonga Raiders in its 48-point win over Corowa-Rutherglen.
Riddell District Football League
Billy Cannolo made his return from a broken collarbone for Rupertswood after 6 weeks on the sidelines. Cannolo kicked a goal and was named in the best as his side defeated Riddell by 36 points.
