Lions prepare for rainy day at Williamstown

BY JACK KOVACIC

Coburg will be making the trip down to Williamstown this weekend for what will be its second last game of the VFL season.

Saturday’s clash against the Seagulls will see the opening siren sound at 2pm at Downer Oval.

The Lions will be eager to bounce back from last week’s disappointing loss to Werribee at home.

Jack Sandric and Marcus Lentini were both named high in Coburg’s best players last week and will both be lining up in the centre square.

Tye Browning will line-up as 23rdman for his fourth game in a row as he continues to impress after signing midseason from the Calder Cannons in the NAB League.

Small forward Billy Cannolo could potentially return to the line-up for the first time since breaking his collarbone back in round nine against Sandringham.

Cannolo played last week for local club Rupertswood in the Riddell District Football League, kicking a goal in his team’s 26-point win.

Braedyn Gillard, Jack Baker, Xavier Fry and Brodie Foster are all other possible inclusions, with all having been named alongside Cannolo on the extended bench.

At this stage, Tom Meagher is the only confirmed out from last week’s team.

Williamstown are coming off a bye and are in great form which has seen them rise to 4thplace on the VFL ladder.

The final team will be announced on Saturday morning before what will be a big game against the 4thplaced Seagulls.
