Coburg Football Club are pleased to announce the signing of Carey Grammar product Ben Jepson.
Jepson is a 180cm, 70kg defender who made his VAFA senior debut as a 16-year-old in 2018 with Old Carey.
In 2019, Ben split his time with Carey Grammar and in the NAB League with the Oakleigh Chargers where he managed five games, predominantly early in the season.
A standout in APS football, Jepson has developed and made a real commitment to his defensive game as a rebounding defender and intercept marker, with a good kick and excellent decision making. He was supposed to spend 2020 with Richmond’s VFL program as a contracted player, however that never eventuated with the COVID-19 Pandemic and Lockdown forcing no VFL at all in 2020.
Ben takes the 12th and final list spot for players under the age of 22 under the new VFL/East Coast FL’s playing list rules.
Coburg GM Sebastian Spagnuolo is pleased to have the young defender on board for 2021.
“Ben is highly rated by many and has caught the eye of AFL recruiters in the past. He now has the ability to continue his football and body development with us and keep himself in frame with strong form.
When not playing with us he will be playing in a good football program with Old Carey in the VAFA where the messages will be consistent with those from our coaching staff which is important.
We look forward to welcoming Ben to the club and seeing him work with his teammates and our coaches in an environment that he should thrive in.”
