The Coburg Football Club are pleased to announce the signings of forwards Teagan Brett and Aleesha Hobbs for 2022.
Both Hobbs and Brett were able to impact the scoreboard this year kicking four goals each.
Brett played six matches for Coburg in its inaugural season. The 20-year-old is also on Carlton’s VFLW list where she played three games this year.
Hobbs joined the club in May and went on to play seven straight games. She was named Lion of the Round in the Round 5 win over Tyabb which was just her second match for the club.
Brett said she was pumped to be re-signing for the 2022 season.
“When Cav called me a few weeks ago and spoke about what next season would look like for Coburg, I immediately said yes. There was no doubt really, I just really enjoy the club and the people around it,” she said. “The future looks really bright at Coburg, they know where they want to be in the next few years and it’s an exciting journey to be a part of.”
Hobbs said she re-signed due to the family oriented nature of the club, its facilities and the foundations Coburg has been setting.
“Looking forward to getting back with the girls I already know and the ones who I’m yet to meet so really looking forward to get back into it,” she said. “I know there’s big things in store for us and we’re going to be serious competitors, so very excited to see what we can bring next year.”
Coach Liam Cavanagh said the re-signings of Hobbs and Brett were two really good inclusions for 2022.
“Really excited to see what a full pre-season with us does to [Hobbs’] progression and we expect that she should have a clear understating of the game plan, better fitness base, better understanding of the team and everything else, so really excited to see what she can produce next year,” he said. “With Teagan Brett we’re pretty confident that she’ll be doing great things at Carlton next year and if she isn’t we will be reaping the benefits again.”
