GUCCIONE SERVES UP AN ACE FOR THE LIONS!

By Mathew Asciak

The Coburg Football Club is thrilled to announce the signing of Daniel Guccione. Signing from Carlton’s VFL program, Guccione made his debut in the VFL in 2019 for Essendon, making seven appearances, including appearances in three finals for the Bombers.

Standing at 194cm with impressive athletic ability and with a professional tennis background, Guccione was deployed as a key defender by the Bombers, but has the ability to move up to the wing or up forward.

Guccione said he was looking forward to playing at a family and community driven club.

“Super stoked to be signing with such a great club and a club rich in history. Heard great things and can’t wait to get stuck in and pull that jersey on come game day,” he said.

“Looking forward to making the switch from an AFL affiliated club to playing at a standalone club, where I think I can showcase my best abilities and contribute positively to the team both on and off the field.”

“I think I can bring great aerial ability both forward and in defence, I’m a very competitive person so I’m going to bring that competitiveness, passion and that want to win. Hope to bring some flair and excitement too in my ability with ball in hand and as a tall and key position player I believe that physically I’m up there with the fittest and fastest players.”

General Manager Sebastian Spagnuolo said he was really excited to welcome Guccione to the club.

“Daniel is a hard worker, mature aged and more than ready to compete at VFL,” he said.

“Daniel was coached at Bundoora by Sturg (Andrew Sturgess), so he knew what we can expect from him as a player and person. With Daniel, we’re adding another strong competitor that is motivated to succeed at state league level.”

“We’ll see Daniel in the backline I’d imagine, but he’s very athletic and is a strong runner. Our coaches will love the versatility that he can bring to the team.”
